A February Project Portrait Session

This project started with a desire to bless others and to capture some irreplaceable memories in a time when these families are walking through a very dark valley and could use a little extra light and love in their life. After completing only two of these sessions, it is quite clear they are quickly growing into something that blesses me and my heart just as much or possibly more than it does the recipient. This project has grown into something near and dear to my heart and I am ever changed and affected little more with each gift I’m able to pass on. I leave each time with a little deeper of a longing in my heart to do more for each recipient, and I know these sessions are just the beginning of something bigger to come.

This month’s recipient was Jennifer and her beautiful family. Her and Chris have the most delightful trio of boys you ever did meet. These three are full of life and love, sweet as can be, full of wonder and adventure, and clearly have their mom and dad’s hearts. They are a great testament to a strong support system and the wonderful outlook Jennifer has and the beauty she chooses to see day after day. By watching their family together you would never imagine some of the hardships and trials they have faced both together and apart- they are just that wonderful.

Jennifer has been fighting her battle with Neuroendocrine Pancreatic Cancer since 2012, which hasn’t been a cancer that younger people typically get, but she continues to battle it with such a beautiful outlook on life despite this diagnosis. She’s been through scan after scan, xrays, MRIs, embolization treatments, chemotherapy, radiation treatments, antibiotic treatments, and so many other things over these past nearly 8 years. She hasn’t had an easy road and I am so honored and grateful to be able to provide this small gesture of kindness for their family and to get the privilege to meet all of them and to hear about her story. Alongside Jennifer’s battle, Chris has also faced his own battle and trials and is now celebrating 4+ months of sobriety, which is so awesome!! (Go Chris, keep up the great work, it is worth it and for what it’s worth, I believe you can overcome this)! I will be praying for you both and your family as you continue on in your journeys!

So, here are a few of my favorites from our time together, and I hope you love them as much as I do! A quick side note before I share: if you are interested in donating money towards this project please contact me on my contact page or email me at kristy@kristymaephotography.com. I am donating my time which is an honor, but I am trying to gather just enough funds to provide a small photo book for each family!

All My Love, Kristy
